Academic Integrity Statement

The use of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), and Large Language Models (LLMs) within academia and teaching spaces is becoming problematic. It is imperative for those of us that are teaching to be open and transparent about the use of A.I. and LLMs, so individual learners can be informed about the perspectives, insights and pedagogy they’re being delivered.

It is my personal belief that those that teach, or include A.I. generated content, should inform their learners what content has been produced with A.I., and to what extent and/or what percentage.

The content of this course is free of A.I. generated content with the exclusion of the following:

Week 7: Sociology of Homelessness: Dehumanisation and the Dynamics of Fear

Activity: The Human Capital Valuation Index (HCVI)

Extent: A.I. was used to create a complex mathematical equation that breaks down a human’s worth for a dystopian style banking / lending assessment. It is introduced as an “A.I generated equation” during the activity.

The Equation:

Model: Anthropic’s Sonet 4.5
