THE LANA LICENSE (Version 1.4)

Copyright (c) 2026 Beneath the Surface AU

1) Purpose and Philosophy The LANA License is a memorial-focused license designed to ensure that data models, methodologies, and projects addressing childhood homelessness remain a pure tribute to those lost. The core intent is to prevent the overshadowing of the cause by individuals, corporations, or institutional titles. This license prioritizes the memory of the victims over the professional or social capital of the creators and implementers.

2) Grant of Rights and Reciprocity Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this methodology and associated documentation files (the "Work"), to deal in the Work without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, and/or sublicense the Work, subject to the following conditions:

A) License Persistence (Share-Alike): Any derivative work, modification, or project based on this Work must be licensed under this same LANA License. You may not distribute a derivative work under any other terms that conflict with or omit the conditions in Section 3.

3) Conditions of Use:

A) Mandatory Naming Convention Any project, derivative work, or implementation of this methodology must be named after a specific child who has lost their life while experiencing homelessness. The name of the child must be the primary identifier of the project.

B) Restricted Exclusion of Identities In the promotion, publicizing, or documentation of the work, no identities other than the child for whom the project is named shall appear. This prohibition is absolute regarding individuals, researchers, authors, financial donors, and corporate sponsors.

The Structural Exception: To facilitate technical implementation, users are permitted to include their organizational logo and business name within site-wide headers and footers only. * Limitation of Exception: Branding in headers and footers must be consistent with the user's standard site navigation. This exception does not permit branding within the main body of the work, the "About" section, hero sections, promotional graphics, or credit lists. The implementation itself must remain anonymized and memorial-focused.

C) Neutral Attribution Attribution must be provided solely through the use of the project title and its digital location. Users shall credit the work using the following functional reference:

"Derived from the LANA Methodology (https://www.beneaththesurface.au/lana-methodology)"

The names of the original creators and the organization "Beneath the Surface AU" must be omitted from all public-facing materials.

4) Limitations and Liability:

A) No Warranty: THE WORK IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

B) Limitation of Liability: IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE WORK.
