LANA Dashboard Released - Australian Childhood Homelessness Mortality Tracker

Loved And Never Alone

In Loving Memory of Lana Vapor.

Today is the launch of the Australian Childhood Homelessness Mortality Tracker, called LANA Dashboard. It provides real-time statistical model tracking estimated childhood deaths linked to homelessness in Australia.

This research is dedicated to every child that has experienced homelessness in Australia and serves as a constant reminder that they are all "Loved and Never Alone".

This project is named in loving memory of Lana Vapor.

If you permit homelessness to exist, you permit the casualties. This project will exist until this changes.

A Line in the Sand

This is also a line in the sand, this information has existed in the open for many years. Yet no other organisation has chosen to publish it. This is disgracefully negligent and needs to be addressed and called out.

Beneath the Surface AU is one person, not an organisation with many employees, we don't receive funding. Yet this was able to be built and published. Organisations in this space need to start doing better, and understand that this costs lives.

This model is also being released as open source under our LANA License, you may contribute, modify and reproduce this model, however it must also be named after a child who has lost their life to homelessness, and must contain no one else's name in the promotion or linking of the project.

This means children that are homeless are the focus, they're front and center and no one else's name or position will overshadow that.

Methodology and Source Code

You can read more about the methodology here.

Its source code along with the Dashboard is available at our LANA Dashboard Github Repository. Additionally, if you’d like to implement this on your website we have a guide you can use here.

You can read the licensing requirements here.
